Biblical Womanhood, Goals + Planning

January 2, 2018

Happy New Year! Let me just start off with some trivial banter about how I am already feeling so refreshed in 2018 because we did one of my all time favorite things; re-arranged our living room! The TV is no longer the focal point of the entire space and it feels more open and inviting and I just love it. It’s funny how much little changes can do for the soul, isn’t it? And I’ve even gotten pretty good at selectively not-seeing Thane’s really classy “clear” antenna that’s hanging right next to my favorite mirror.

So, what are your goals for 2018?

Some people pick a word to kick off the new year but since I can’t just pick one, I’m taking a whole batch:

Then Jesus told his disciples, “If any want to become my followers, let them  deny themselves and  take up their cross and  follow me. For those who want to save their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will find it. For what will it profit them they gain the whole world but forfeit their life?” MATHEW 16:24-26a

First things’ first…self-denial.

Ouch, that’s a hard one. But it’s goal no.1 this year, because without learning to deny myself and to follow Jesus, I won’t bear fruit in any of the other areas of my life. He is the foundation of all, and if we neglect Him, we forfeit everything. A tough pill to swallow for someone like me with a hefty amount personal ambition, prone to over-indulging in ideas and dreams and creative ventures that lead me down all kinds of rabbit trails that have nothing to do with God’s plan for my life. It’s time to prayerfully strive to lay aside that ancient me-centered way of living, because denying ourselves, following Him, and wholeheartedly taking on the responsibilities He’s given us are non-negotiable for those of us who are abundantly, forever blessed to know Jesus. And one thing I know; HE IS WORTH IT.
